The congress was launched this week in a ceremony attended by Bangladeshi officials and people as well as representatives from Muslim countries’ embassies.
The Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in the capital Dhaka hosted the opening ceremony.
In an address, Iranian Cultural Attaché in Bangladesh Seyed Reza Mirmohammadi described holding such programs as a prelude to formation of a Quranic society and paving the ground for promotion of the Quran’s verses and teachings.
He also referred to the current developments in the Muslim world and said Muslims more than ever need to act upon the teachings of the Quran and unite in accordance to the Holy Book’s commandments.
He described the issue of Palestine as the number one issue in the Islamic world and said resolving it and other problems is not possible without acting upon the Quranic injunction to form a united Muslim Ummah.
The annual Quranic program is organized by the International Quran Recitation Association of Bangladesh, known as ‘Iqra’.
